tacterion is a high-tech startup based in Munich and was founded in 2015 as a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). tacterion develops and markets a unique sensor technology called sensorskin. Based on our sensorskin technology, plyon® is our first product platform. It combines a highly flexible sensory layer that measures interaction and pressure on any surface with algorithms to understand how users interact with it. This patented technology was originally developed for robotics and provides the sense of touch for products and machines. tacterion’s sensitive surface layers enable the next generation of truly interactive and responsive products.

Why we need you
We have exciting times ahead of us and we are looking for someone to become plyon's® key polymer expert. World-leading companies approach us to integrate our technology into their products. As Polymer Expert, you will work closely together with the inventor of plyon® and develop custom-tailored plyon® solutions for a variety of use-cases and industries. Your experience of designing optimal silicone properties for high volume production will be of key importance in automating our sensor production. What to expect
As Polymer Expert, you will become one of our key employees and assume a demanding but multifaceted position. Since tacterion is a young company, it is your task to fully understand every aspect of plyon® and to continuously develop it further in order to meet the demands of our customers. Our sensors are silicone-based, so be prepared to get your hands dirty when experimenting with new sensor designs. Ideally, you are experienced in process engineering and automated production of silicone-based layers. You will design and build prototypes and small test batches to derive the specific micro designs of plyon® used in market-ready products. Experimentation and dead-ends will be your daily companion. Therefore, you need to be creative, pragmatic and absolutely hands-on.
Your profile in short
  • Extensive experience with flat-surface silicone coatings
  • Ideally know-how in conductive polymers and their use in roll-to-roll production
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material/ Polymer Sciences, or similar
  • Fluent in German and English, ready to work hands-on
